After his men used tear gas at student protests, the IGP has moved to Kumasi.

Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, is said to be on his way to Kumasi to evaluate the incident between his officers and pupils from the Islamic Senior High School in Abrepo.

On Monday, June 13, a demonstration by pupils at the school in the Ashanti Region turned fatal when police allegedly sprayed tear gas at them.

According to reports, at least 30 of the pupils were brought to the hospital after collapsing.

The youngsters were protesting the regular road accidents in front of their school and had blocked the road.

They said that they had made multiple requests to the necessary authorities to install speed ramps, but to no effect.

The cops were brought in to interfere during their demonstration. Officers used tear gas to remove the roadblock and disperse the demonstrating throng, rendering some students unconscious and leaving others in serious discomfort.

According to the information obtained, ambulances were dispatched to bring the affected students to the hospital.

When some parents learned of the situation, they invaded the school to ensure the safety of their children.

"I heard there was a fight at the school and that the cops were firing and assaulting the pupils. I heard the cops chasing them into their dorms and beating the girls. I felt terrible watching schoolchildren comatose on the ground. Everyone in this place is screwed up "as a parent said
