Police personnel injured during Arise Ghana demonstration receive surgery (pictures

 During the Arise Ghana event, the Ghanaian Police Service has revealed that fifteen of its personnel were hurt.

According to the law enforcement organization, two of the injured officers are currently undergoing emergency surgery while the remainder are also receiving care at the Police Hospital



According to a police statement released on Thursday, June 30, Minister of the Interior Ambrose Dery visited the hospital to show his support for the injured officers.



"An additional twelve (12) police officers were hurt during Arise Ghana's first day of protests, bringing the total to fifteen (15). (15). Two of the officers are receiving emergency surgery at the Police Hospital.


"Thank you to Hon. Ambrose Dery, Minister of the Interior for heading a delegation to visit our officers in the hospital, who represents one of our sector ministers.




Statement on police social media platforms said: "The Police Administration wishes to convey its appreciation to members of the general public for their affection and support to affected personnel. "






An economic suffering rally was held by the Arise Ghana pressure group over the course of two days.


Clashes erupted among demonstrators and police on their first day of protest, when the latter tried to prevent them from utilizing particular routes that they claimed were not part of the approved itinerary.




Angry protesters were shown on camera flinging rocks at police officers forming a human wall to stop the marchers from advancing.




At the Kwame Nkrumah Circle on June 28, the police had to use tear gas and rubber bullets to gain control of the ground due to a chaotic scenario.


As a result of the attack, twelve police officers and several protestors were injured, according to police statements later in the day.




A total of 29 protesters were detained on the spot and are still in police custody, while the police intimated that they would pursue the demonstrators' organizers to hold them accountable for the injuries sustained by policemen and the damage to their cars.




Meanwhile, the protest's second day went somewhat uneventfully. Before heading to the Jubilee House, the capital's seat of government, protesters gathered in El Wak Stadium and handed a petition to the Finance Ministry.




After the second day of protest, the police issued a statement praising the protesters and their officers for their professionalism.
