Eddie Nketiah once aspired to play for Ghana's U17 national team - Saanie Daara.

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Ibrahim Saanie Daara has disclosed that Eddie Nketiah earlier indicated interest in playing for Ghana's U17 national squad.

Speaking to Joy Sports, Saanie Daara said Tariq Lamptey has also been itching to play for the Black Stars for many years now.

"I am also aware that guys like Eddie Nketiah came to the Ghana U-17 team few years ago and was told he was not cut," he stated.

"Tariq [Lamptey] had been sending me messages for several years that he wanted to play for Ghana's young national teams before England invited him."

"It should tell you that a lot of these athletes care about their country." Perhaps since we didn't have the opportunity to court them when they were younger, they were exposed to more opportunities."

The GFA announced last week that five new players had accepted to become Ghana internationals.

Inaki Williams, Mohammed Salisu, Tariq Lamptey, Patrick Pfeiffer, Stephan Ambrosius, and Ransford Yeboah are among them.

Some of the players named above are anticipated to be part of the Black Stars group that will compete in the Qatar 2022 World Cup later this year.

Otto Addo's team is in Group H with Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea.
