'Why are things twice as expensive in Accra as they are in the United States?' - Michael Blackson discusses his personal experience

Michael Blackson, a Hollywood actor and comedian, is now in Ghana and is surprised by the high cost of living in Accra.

According to the Ghanaian-American, when he went out to buy some things for his Accra house, he was met with astonishment. He expressed his dissatisfaction on social media. He tweeted, "C'mon Ghana, why are everything so damn expensive?"

"I recently tried to buy furniture and appliances, and they are almost double the price of what they cost me in the United States," he stated.

Michael Blackson is urging the government to lower the price of importation as a way to ensure that commodities are less expensive than they are currently. "May we please lessen the port fees in Ghana so that these retailers can reduce the pricing for the people?" he said.

Ghana can we please lower the port fees so these stores can lower the prices for the people?

He also expressed his dissatisfaction with how costly life is in Ghana, despite the country's economic difficulties, saying, "I love my continent, but we have to do better to support our people."

"I learned the other day that small girls in rural places can't afford tampons or pads, so they drop out of school because they're ashamed to bleed in front of males smh," the comedian and philanthropist continued.

"We are not at war with anyone, so why should we be forced to pay for the problems of others? Why does crap cost the highest in West Africa, which is perhaps the poorest section of the world? We don't have the resources to import anything, smh "He continued to bemoan.

He closed his series of rants with a touch of humour, saying that "It appears that I will be preparing to run for president in 12 years. I believe the public require my services "..
