Ponobiom, formerly known as Yaa Pono, says he regrets waging a lyrical fight with Shatta Wale of Dancehall fame
According to allegations from early 2017, Shatta Wale had blocked Ponobiom from playing at a concert at Cape Coast Stadium, where the former was the headliner. Ponobiom stated in an interview that the dancehall act's actions may have been motivated by Shatta's fear of stealing the stage. This is because he claims to have a sizable fan following in Cape Coast.
Shatta Wale's answer to a request from Ponobiom, on the other hand, sparked the feud between them.
Ponobiom had requested that Shatta collaborate with him in order to revitalize what was then perceived as a failing music business. Ponobiom, on the other hand, was characterized to by Shatta Wale as an underground musician that didn't merit his hype or attention. As a result, he refused the offer.
He also mentioned some unpleasant things about Ponobiom in a Twitter post.
Ponobiom responded by releasing Noko, the first diss song in their verbal fight.
Ponobiom remarked in an interview years later, 'I wish I hadn't followed a fool,' in response to the event.
One of his biggest regrets in his career as an artist, he told Kumasi-based Pure FM's Hammer Nti, was engaging in a public feud with Shatta Wale. The dancehall act, in his opinion, did not deserve to be pitted against one other.
Ponobiom claims that if he could turn back time, he would have disregarded Shatta Wale.
